United Way of Acadiana treated its donors to a cocktail party in the lobby of the Iberiabank Tower downtown. An annual affair, “Spirit of Giving” is a thank-you to supporters for their monetary gifts during the year, and this year’s guest of honor was none other than Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser. “It’s so important that we preserve the language and culture of this area,” said Nungesser. In the mix: Foard men Robert and his father Tom, UW press liaison Elsa Dimitriadis, retired Principal Gwen Lewis and Iberiabank host-with-the-most Jerry Prejean.

Rio Makes Merry

The Krewe of Carnivale en Rio did what Rio does best — party. The Knights of Columbus Fatima Hall hosted them for a royalty party, which just so happened to coincide with the holidays. Vernon Moret and Kim Trahan will reign this carnival season, and their theme is “Rio Goes to Wonderland.”
