A Lafayette singer continues to make waves in the Contemporary Christian music scene.
Last week, Lauren Daigle picked up an American Music Award nomination for Favorite Artist — Contemporary Inspirational. Daigle will compete against Hillsong United and Chris Tomlin for the award.
Daigle, a former LSU student, also leads the pack with five nominations for the 48th annual Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards, including nods for Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year.
The Dove Awards took place Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be broadcast on Sunday on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Dove Awards winners were not announced at the time of publication. Check local listings for more information on the telecast.
The Grammy-nominated artist took home two Billboard Music Awards already this year, for Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Album, the 2015 release "How Can It Be."
Daigle's song "Almost Human" is also featured on the soundtrack to the new sci-fi film, "Blade Runner 2049," and is available on iTunes, Spotify and other music sites.
