In Lafayette, the Cajun Heartland State Fair is ramping up.
The 11-day event has already started, and it features carnival games and rides, food and music on the grounds and parking areas of the Cajundome at 444 Cajundome Blvd.
Though the event is free, parking is $10 per vehicle. There is a no re-entry policy for vehicles. Ice chests, pets, bikes, skates and skateboards are not allowed.
Wristbands for rides are available for $25-$30, depending on the time. Mega passes are also available. Visit cajundome.com/entertainment.aspx for a detailed look at each day's deals.
This year is the 29th anniversary for the event. This year's fair will also feature a free indoor inflatable park with jump attractions such as a zip line, rugged warrior and many more.
Rides returning this year include the Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, a water flume and the popular Mega Drop. Patrons can also expect food favorites like popcorn, funnel cakes, corn dogs and cotton candy.
