The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum heralded its summer exhibitions with an elegant cocktail show-and-tell. On view in the coming weeks will be “Contemporary Masters: Works on Paper, Earth and Element” by New Orleans abstract minimalist George Dunbar and works by Mississippi artist Walter Anderson et famille.

“We’re very excited to have these great exhibits,” said museum director Lance Harris. “We’re hoping the public will come in, cool off and see cool art.” Already cool were Kathryn Boustany Scurlock, Morgan and Helen Goudeau, Corvette lady Gretchen Stewart, Nia Terezakis, Barbara Motley, Borislava Callan, Baton Rouge residents Wanda and Isadore Tansil, Michael Adams and Don Fuson, who said the traffic wasn’t bad. What we loved: Dunbar’s rags to riches and that Mike Huber is OK after his tumble at a French chateau, but thanks — we’ll pass on that next trip.
