What a pretty girl, and a credit to her family and school to boot. Madeleine Ortte was honored with an Alumni House champagne reception at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Friends, family, and VIP guests paid court after the traditional Sunday Mass and the autumn sun shone brightly on Miss Ortte. Arriving early were proud grandparents John and Dorothy Meriwether, parents Ricky and Josi Ortte, aunts Judith Meriwether and Jacki Meriwether, best friends and fellow Kappa Deltas Julie Hebert and Danika Arenibas, Dr. E.J. Savoie, Margaret Trahan, camera-ready Anna Rees and Angela Morrison, who gave credit where credit was due. “Liz Landry’s the reason this all runs so smoothly,” said Morrison.

Aperitif Party

The Acadiana Outreach Center held its prelude to Palates & Paté at Abacus on a recent evening. Guests enjoyed a cocktail buffet and a chance to preview the Outreach Center’s vision for the future, including additional square footage and increased shelter capacity for the homeless. Doing their share were Rick and Connie Voth, David and Prissy Wilson, Marrietta Zeringue and Patricia Naomi, Chuck and Caroline Vincent, Ashley and Wendy Lane, Sue Soileau Brignac and Lafayette Parish Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper. That soon-to-be auctioned Hunt Slonem painting wasn’t bad either.
