LAFAYETTE — The Rev. Kevin Bordelon, director of vocations and seminarians for the Diocese of Lafayette, recently announced internship assignments for seminarians who will be ordained transitional deacons during a 10 a.m. Mass on May 25 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

The men will serve church communities as deacons as part of their preparation for their ordination to the priesthood next year and gain experience in parish ministry through their temporary assignments, Bordelon said in a news release.

Internship assignments are: Travis Abadie of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church assigned to St. John Cathedral; Mattthew Bazare from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice is assigned to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville; Michael DeBlanc of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks assigned to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte; Sam Fontana of St. Pius X Catholic Church assigned to Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Scott; Taj Glodd of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley assigned to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne; and Nicholas Dupre and Brian Webre of the Community of Jesus Crucified assigned to their religious community.
