The Cajun French Music Association’s Acadiana Chapter will sponsor free accordion, fiddle and dance lessons beginning June 2 at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice.

Music workshops will be given by local musicians and the CFMA’s dance troupe will lead the dance instruction.

The workshops are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from June 2-18.

Advance registration is not needed, and participants may attend as many or as few workshops as they want.

Orchid show

The Acadian Orchid Society will hold its annual show and sale on June 13 and June 14 at the Ira Nelson Horticultural Center on Johnson Street in Lafayette.

Admission is free.

The shows runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 13 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 14.

Creole Culture Day

The Vermilionville folklife park in Lafayette will host a free “Creole Culture Day” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 7.

Events include cooking demonstrations, art, film and music.

The Junior League of Lafayette is accepting applications through June 1 for community projects sponsored by area nonprofit groups.

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a local board of directors, and projects must be in Lafayette Parish.

The Scott Volunteer Fire Department will hold at “Sporting Clay Shoot-Out” fundraiser on June 20 at the G.O.L. Shooting Complex in Maurice.

Tangled in the Parc

Downtown Lafayette’s Movies in the Parc series will present “Tangled” on Saturday at Parc International.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk.

Admission is $3 and free for children 5 and younger.
