Lafayette Regional Airport’s former assistant project manager has been promoted to deputy director, airport officials said.

As deputy director, Daniel Elsea’s duties are being expanded to include managing contract administration, fund procurement, regulatory compliance program supervision and promoting Lafayette Regional’s improvements and expansion, airport director Steven Picou said in a news release.

Elsea has experience supervising regulatory and operations compliance programs, and in grant facilitation.

Elsea also will help further Lafayette Airport projects, including constructing a new $90 million passenger terminal, which is in the beginning stages, and other ongoing projects.

“Along with the other responsibilities of this position, I really look forward to being a part of advancements at the airport,” Elsea said. “I know that the new terminal will be a major economic force for our city, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone who will be a part of that project and the many others we have planned.”

Elsea is an accredited airport executive with the American Association of Airport Executives, holds an MBA from Mississippi State University and a bachelor’s of science from Louisiana Tech University.
