LAFAYETTE — Two upcoming fundraisers benefit the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team’s trek to the Little League World Series.
The team is one of two in the country invited to represent the 30,000 special needs players in the international league.
The team is raising money to cover the travel expenses of transporting the special needs players and their family members to the series.
A catfish fry dinner fundraiser is scheduled between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday at the Lafayette Little League Park on Broadmoor Boulevard. Plates are $7.
On July 15, the Acadiana Cane Cutters — Lafayette’s collegiate travel team — will hold Lafayette Challenger Day at Fabacher Field. The Cane Cutters are scheduled to play the Brazos Valley (Texas) Bombers at 7 p.m. and the Challenger team members will be introduced. Tickets are $8 and if purchased from a Challenger parent, half of the ticket cost will be directed toward the Challenger team.
Cane Cutters tickets may be purchased directly from a Challenger parent or by contacting: firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling Coach Bryan Moliason at (337) 258-5078 or Tim Basden at (337) 288-6514.
Donations are also being accepted through the team’s website: http://www.lafayettechallenger.com or by mail at: Lafayette Challenger, P.O. Box 3448, Lafayette, LA 70501.
