The Lafayette Regional Airport board of commissioners has selected Commissioner Paul A. Guilbeau Sr. as chairman for the next year.
“We have another great year planned,” Guilbeau said, “and we are really looking forward to seeing things move forward as we begin the process to build a new terminal and many other ongoing projects.”
Guilbeau was the commission’s vice chairman. He replaces former Chairman Matt Cruse.
The commission and airport Executive Director Steven Picou are overseeing the planned construction of a $90 million passenger terminal. The project is in the beginning stages. Guilbeau was first appointed in September 2008, when he was called on to fill the unexpired term of another commissioner. His term ends in October 2016.
Skinner was appointed to the commission in February 2013 and Garrett in October 2007.
The commission’s seven members are unpaid and are appointed by area mayors, the Lafayette City-Parish Council and the city-parish president. The commission represents all parts of Lafayette Parish.
