Southern Lifestyle Development, the developer of the Village of River Ranch in Lafayette, has been selected to develop 88 acres near CenturyLink’s corporate headquarters in northeast Louisiana.
Monroe-based CenturyLink Inc. said the proposed development will promote “smart growth” principles and include a mix of residential, commercial and recreational uses.
Such communities typically include residential products ranging from apartments and condominiums to cottages and estate homes, as well as commercial uses that range from professional office to lifestyle retail and restaurants, and recreational uses that include fitness and wellness centers, passive and active parks and walking paths.
“We are pleased to have taken this important step that we believe will ultimately lead to a new development benefitting Monroe and surrounding communities by offering more choices for housing, recreation and work,” said Glen F. Post III, CenturyLink’s CEO and president.
The company selected Southern Lifestyle Development in a competitive process. The Village of River Ranch was recently named one of America’s 14 best Urban Villages by Urban Land Institute in its publication “Creating Great Town Centers and Urban Villages.”
Robert Daigle, River Ranch development’s managing partner, said CenturyLink and Southern Lifestyle Development will spend the next two months creating a master plan for the 88 acres.
