The Lafayette City-Parish Council has lifted the ban on go-cups.

On a 6-3 vote Tuesday, the council reversed a 2010 ordinance that made it illegal to take alcohol outside of bars in the downtown, McKinley Street and Simcoe Street areas.

The repeal of the ban will take effect once it is signed by City-Parish President Joey Durel, who said he plans to sign it Monday.
