Donald Broussard

Donald Broussard, a leader in the unsuccessful effort last fall to recall Iberia Sheriff Louis Ackal, has been indicted on manslaughter and aggravated obstruction of a highway in a July 2016 fatal crash.

Rakeem Blakes, 24, of Bossier City, was killed when his Ford Explorer failed to negotiate a curve on the US 90 Service Road and crashed into an 18-wheeler. Blakes' vehicle caught fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Minutes before that crash, Blakes had been involved in a hit-and-run crash along US 90 near Broussard. Blakes allegedly rear-ended the car Broussard was driving. Broussard is accused of pursuing Blakes down the highway in a high-speed chase.
