LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Science Museum reopens its haunted house, the “Museum of Fear,” at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The “Museum of Fear” will be open Saturday and Oct. 8. Starting on Oct. 14, the event will be open every Friday and Saturday in October through Oct. 29. Hours are from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This year, the museum will feature scary retellings of classic children’s stories for the “Children’s Museum of Fear: Storytelling” in cooperation with the Children’s Museum of Acadiana. The storytelling sessions begin Oct. 8 and continue Friday and Saturdays through Oct. 29. Story times are at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

League of Women launches voter guide

LAFAYETTE — The League of Women Voters of Lafayette recently launched an online voter guide that provides information on candidate races, propositions and constitutional amendments on the Oct. 22 ballot, according to a news release.

“Voter education is central to the League’s mission, so we have added this electronic resource to the others that has been made available to the voters,” said Ola Prejean, the organization’s Voter Service chairwoman, in the release.

Mardi Gras bead sale supports disabled

LAFAYETTE — Buy Mardi Gras beads and support the developmentally disabled during the moving sale for LARC’s Mardi Gras Beads-N-More Store, 1809 Johnston St.

The sale is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and continues Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit LARC’s programs and services, which support adults with developmental disabilities.

Hearts of Hope to host Monday benefit

LAFAYETTE — The 27th annual Acadiana Culinary Classic fundraiser for Hearts of Hope is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Cajundome Convention Center.

Hearts of Hope is a nonprofit group that works with children and adult victims of sexual assault.

A wine expo and silent auction begins at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available for sale at the event.

‘In His Grace’ shows set for next 2 weeks

LAFAYETTE — The two-act original musical comedy, “In His Grace,” continues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cité des Arts, 109 Vine St.

Performances continue at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Oct. 15. One Sunday matinee will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 9.

The comedy is written by local playwrights Jane Martin Billeaudeaux and John Verly Richard and is directed by Christy Leichty. Musical direction is by Glenn Hebert.

The musical is set in Louisiana and follows the antics of a preacher tempted by “greed, lust and power,” according to a release.
