A search committee for the Lafayette Regional Airport Commission pared its finalists for airport director from four to three Wednesday, eliminating New Iberia-based Acadiana Regional Airport Commissioner Jason Devillier from consideration.
The full commission will review the final three candidates at the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday.
The remaining candidates are:
Ralph Hennessy, of Baton Rouge, who works as assistant director of aviation at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport
Robert Kennedy, of East Point, Georgia, vice president of consulting services for Aviation Strategies International in Georgia
Steven Picou, of Amarillo, Texas, deputy director of aviation at the Amarillo International Airport in Texas.
Larry Sides, of Sides & Associates, said Thursday that all seven members of the Airport Commission will be given a file next week on each of the three finalists, including video recordings of interviews conducted at their job sites in December.
The chairman of the search committee, airport Commissioner Paul Guilbeau, said Devillier’s job at Acadiana Regional Airport didn’t involve commercial service, which some on the search committee might have counted against him.
Guilbeau said he expects the full commission will not choose a director on Wednesday but that the final candidate should receive a job offer by the end of January.
Longtime Director Greg Roberts resigned in June after he pulled a fake gun during an altercation with an engineer.
The commission in August began advertising for the position, which pays a salary of $100,000 to $150,000 a year, depending on experience.
