LAFAYETTE — The Second Saturday Artwalk Fall Fest honoring the late artist Elemore Morgan Jr. returns to downtown Lafayette.
The special edition of ArtWalk is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and is held in observance of Elemore Morgan Jr. Day. Morgan died in 2008 at the age of 76. A Baton Rouge native, he taught students art at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for 33 years. He is known for his vivid landscapes of Louisiana.
Selected pieces of Morgan’s work will be on display at Chase Tower, Home Bank and the Lafayette Science Museum.
The pieces are from the collections of Morgan’s family, IberiaBank, Lafayette Consolidated Government, Dr. Whitney Gonsoulin, and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Haynie, according to a news release. Three of Morgan’s students: Cliff Broussard, Tanya Falgout and Travis Prejean, will be featured at the Arts Co-Op, 535 Jefferson St.
Artists exhibiting on Jefferson Street include: Anne Crownover, Annette Aucoin, Timothy Joshua, Annie Hendrix, Jacob Broussard, Therese Bouchereau-Killer Beads, Authur McViccar, Rianna Freeman, Janet Ullrich-Theriot, Dickie Wagner, Kathleen Dumensil/Caroline Goodman, Maxie Durel-Crain-Cajun Clay, Gary Joye, Deborah Simeral, Maurine Geldmacher, Michelle Fontenot, Kai Drobish, Dwight David, Gerald Judice and Margo Baker.
