Three new Roman Catholic priests are set to celebrate their first Masses on Sunday following ordination ceremonies Saturday.

Ordained Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church were: the Rev. Matthew Bazare, of St. Anthony Parish, Eunice; the Rev. Nicholas Dupre and the Rev. Brian Webre, of the Community of Jesus Crucified.

Bazare celebrates his first Mass at St. Anthony Church in Eunice on Sunday and is assigned as associate pastor of Our Lady of Holy Rosary in Kaplan.

Dupre and Webre will celebrate their first Mass in Mater Dolorosa Chapel in St. Martinville. As part of their religious community, they will minister at retreats, prison and to those in hospice care.

Also on Saturday, the Rev. William Charles Massie IV, of St. John Cathedral Parish, was ordained as a transitional deacon, a step in preparation for priesthood.

Massie participates in his first Mass as deacon at the 11 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral and will intern this summer at St. Michael Parish in Crowley before completing his studies at Sacred Heart Seminary in Hales Corner, Wisconsin.

Another ordination ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. June 21 at the Cathedral for the Rev. Patrick Broussard, of St. John Cathedral; the Rev. Michael DeBlanc, St. Joseph Parish, Parks; the Rev. Taj vanCortian Glodd, St. Theresa Parish, Crowley; and the Rev. Samuel Fontana, St. Pius X Parish, Lafayette.
