A Duson man was sentenced this week to one year in prison and ordered to pay nearly $300,000 on charges of evading federal taxes for three years, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Larry J. Thibodeaux, 66, who owned Thib's Trailers in Duson, was accused of underreporting taxes from 2012 to 2014.

As part of his sentence, he was ordered to pay $248,777 in back taxes and a $50,000 fine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release.
