Lafayette’s community media center, AOC, is inviting individuals and organizations to record free messages of love to be broadcast on Valentine’s Day.

Those interested can stop by AOC studios and record professions of affinity in the studio’s “Broadcast Your Love” segments from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday. They can also drop off a DVD to AOC.

The messages can be viewed on public access on Cox Communications channels 15 and 16 and LUS Fiber’s channels 3 and 4.

Residents do not have to be members of AOC to participate.

AOC will release a full schedule of broadcast times on Thursday. Videos also will be available on AOC’s YouTube page.

Youngsville Mardi Gras

Youngsville’s annual Mardi Gras parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, and general traffic along the parade route will be halted beginning at 10 a.m.

Public Service Commissioner and 2015 gubernatorial candidate Scott Angelle will lead the parade as grand marshal.

Youngsville officials are still looking for volunteers to help keep the parade organized, safe and fun.

Mardi Gras at the Market

The Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm will host the second annual Mardi Gras at the Market from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Beginning at 8 a.m., the Children’s Museum of Acadiana will man a mask-decorating booth.

At 9:30 a.m., a Cajun Courir de Mardi Gras, or Mardi Gras “run,” will take place on the grounds of the Horse Farm.

Revelers are encouraged to dress, sing and parade with the courir participants as they beg for coins. The money will help pay for French immersion programs in Lafayette.

At 10:30 a.m. Cedric Wilson & Bijou Creole will play, followed by the Pine Leaf Boys at 12:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to stay until the courir’s end at 2 p.m. to view the Children’s Parade on Johnston Street as it nears the Horse Farm.
