The Fourth annual Boudin Cook-Off is set for Oct. 22 at Parc Sans Souci in downtown Lafayette.

Entries are now being accepted from professional and amateur boudin chefs who wish to compete.

The event, which also features music, family activities and a boudin-eating contest, benefits the Historic Preservation Alliance of Lafayette.

Networking luncheon

University of Louisiana at Lafayette baseball coach Tony Robichaux will speak about positive motivation at the Aug. 5 Connections Women’s Networking Luncheon.

The luncheon will be held at Buffet City on Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Free school supplies

Free school supplies and free haircuts will be offered to children ages 5 to 13 years at a back-to-school event Aug. 14 sponsored by 100 Black Men of Greater Lafayette, Cox Communications and the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Acadiana Technical College Campus on Bertrand Drive in Lafayette.

The free haircuts and school supplies are available for the first 250 children to arrive.

School supply donations can be dropped off at Cox Communications’ Lafayette office on Eraste Landry Road until Aug. 12.

Supplies that are needed include loose-leaf paper, three-ring notebooks, glue sticks, Elmer’s glue, hand sanitizer and three-ring binders.

Dinner theater

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana will have a mystery dinner theater and silent auction fundraiser on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 at the City Club at River Ranch.

Reservations are $100 per person or $700 for a table of eight.

The ticket price includes a three-course meal.

The Lafayette Public Library is offering free computer classes next month at the north and south regional branches.
