LAFAYETTE — Several events across the Acadiana region are planned to help folks say goodbye to 2012 and ring in the new year.
In Arnaudville, the celebration starts early with a New Year’s Eve dance at 8 p.m. Saturday featuring the Art and Steve Deiorio Duo at NuNu’s, 1510 Bayou Courtableau Highway. The suggested donation is $10 and non-alcoholic drinks and refreshments will be sold. Champagne buckets are welcome.
On Monday, the New Year’s Noon Carnival and Countdown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana features outdoor, carnival-style games and activities leading up to the “ball drop” at noon. Admission is $6 per person and tickets for outdoor carnival games, crafts and food are 25 cents.
For those whose bedtimes are a bit later, the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana will hold a cocktail attire New Year’s Eve Bash that starts at 8 p.m. Monday at 721 East Kaliste Saloom Road. It will feature live music by Krossfyre, food, complimentary wine, beer and frozen cosmos and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets are $100 per person and may be purchased at (337) 237-2787.
At Vermilionville, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie will play the New Year’s Eve dance. The dance starts at 8:30 p.m. Monday. Tickets are $35 and should be purchased in advance at (337) 233-4077 or online at: http://www.bayouvermiliondistrict.org.
Several live music venues will also be open Monday night, including Blue Moon Saloon with Sassafras Jubilee and The Bad Cats, featuring Julian and AJ Primeaux; and Grant Street Dancehall with Machete, Selfawarewolf and Quale Manifold. Also in downtown Lafayette, starting at 9 p.m., The Greenroom has a New Year’s Eve party and the Jefferson Street Pub has a “black and white party.”
