One day, Connie Despanie and Benjamin Hall of Lafayette will tell their son Kingston the special tale of how he received his middle name.

The story, as told by CBS News' David Begnaud, involves a grieving daughter, a heartfelt letter and a tearful meeting between two families who had never before met but have now formed a special bond.

The events began on Jan. 12 at Lafayette General Medical Center, where Jamie Fontenot's father had just died at the age of 86. Meanwhile, the hospital was announcing the arrival of a newborn, as is its custom, with a lullaby over the PA system.

That prompted Fontenot to write a letter, which she asked to be delivered to the newborn's family:

"To my dad's angel, even though I will never know your name, you are the first child born here after my dad's passing. When one life is taken, another is given. Please keep my dad in your prayers. His name is James. Thank you," the letter reads.
