The Latin Music Festival is set to fill downtown Lafayette’s Parc International from noon to 10 p.m. Oct. 4.
Adults and children are invited to attend the 12th annual free music festival celebrating Latin music and culture.
Eight restaurants from across Lafayette will be serving food to the sounds of a DJ and four bands: Vivaz, OVI-G and the Froggies, Major Handy and Angelucho Copacabana.
Mixology contest on tap
The Clash of the Cocktails, a mixology contest benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, will pit area bartenders against each other on Sept. 5 at the Madison in Broussard.
The event, sponsored by the Madison, Acadiana Sports Leagues and Sailor Jerry, will host five mixologists from local bars and restaurants.
Bartenders will compete in three rounds to be crowned the first Clash of the Cocktails champion, as well as for a $400 cash prize from Sailor Jerry and for other sponsored prizes.
Attendees will take part in a silent auction, sample free food from restaurant sponsors, and can get a tattoo drawn on their body by ink artists from Sailor Jerry.

AOC to hold teen workshop
Registration is now open for Muse, Acadiana Open Channel’s new after-school creative program for teens.
The program, beginning Sept. 22, offers teens creative, media-based activities led by the channel’s staff and visiting instructors.
The events take place every Monday until Nov. 24.

Fun at Camp Bon Coeur
Camp Bon Coeur will host its first weekend camp and conference for adults born with congenital heart defects on Oct. 17-19 at the Acadian Baptist Center in Eunice.
Attendees will listen to experts’ advice on living with heart disease. Activities include archery and cooking s’mores over a campfire.
