The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced a new crime-reporting feature that allows citizens to upload photos, videos, audio recordings and other files involving potential crimes to the Sheriff’s Office website.

Those uploading the files have the option of doing so anonymously via computers or using devices such as smartphones and tablets. Files may be a maximum size of 30 megabytes. The public can access a form to submit tips by clicking “Submit A Crime Tip” at the top right corner of

“The Sheriff’s Office is blessed to have such a great relationship with the community and receives many tips each month from citizens. Having the ability to upload photos, videos, audio and other files to the Crime Tips Form will enhance the public’s ability to assist the Sheriff’s Office in investigating or reporting a crime,” Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a statement announcing the feature.

Hebert said the website, launched in June 2014, receives more than 15,000 visitors each month and has logged more than 600,000 visits in 2015.

“We also thank the public for their continued support of law enforcement,” Hebert said. “We believe that the unique partnership we have with the residents of St. Mary Parish plays a vital role in helping us keep St. Mary Parish safe.”
