Area student leads homecoming court

LAFAYETTE — Megan Renee Roberts, of Breaux Bridge, will reign over 2011 homecoming activities at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

She is the daughter of Belinda and Paul Roberts, of Breaux Bridge.

Roberts is a junior speech and pathology major with a minor in education.

She was nominated for the homecoming court by the Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Student Center. She serves as president of Alpha Lambda Delta and is the SGA Senator for the College of Liberal Arts. With Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church, she is the evangelization and outreach representative and the spiritual formation representative.

She is on the president’s and dean’s lists and has a 4.0 grade-point average. Roberts has participated in Walk for Life 2011, Walk for Hope 2011 with the Autism Society and is also a tutor. She is preparing for a mission trip to Puerto Rico in December.

Maids of the 2011 homecoming court are Rachel Bonnette, Danielle Cottonham, Erin Edmiston and Kylie Templet.

• Bonnette is a senior, majoring in marketing with a minor in public relations and international business. She is the daughter of Lorraine Kudirka of Colorado and Robert and Sandra Bonnette, of Pineville. Bonnette was nominated by Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

• Cottonham is a senior majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Danny and Patricia Cottonham, of Lafayette. She was nominated for the court by Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

• Edmiston is a senior majoring in general studies. She is the daughter of David and Gema Edmiston, of Lafayette. She was nominated for the court by Phi Kappa Theta.

• Templet is a senior majoring in biology and chemistry. She is the daughter of Sharla and Gordon Aloisio, of New Iberia and Kirt and Becky Templet, of Morgan City. She was nominated to the court by the Student Government Association.

Nominees for the home-coming court are submitted by various student organizations on campus.

The senior football players choose the court after nominees have been interviewed by student leaders.

The ULL homecoming game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday against North Texas.
