LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum will hold its opening reception of its new exhibit, “Morgan as Mentor,” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
The exhibit celebrates the late artist and university art teacher Elemore Morgan Jr. with the works by artists who credit Morgan as their artistic mentor.
Participating artists include: David Alpha, Andrew Amelinckx, Lisa Ayres, John Ballbach, Camille Banuchi, Willie Baronet, Babette Beaullieu, Mary Beyt, Lou Blackwell, Melissa Bonin, Ralph Bourque, Charles Crain, Sidney Creaghan, Linda Dautreuil, Dwight David, Michael Kevin Domingue, Troy Dugas, Kathy Dumesnil, Michael Eble, Angela Elledge, Denise Gallagher, Phillip Gould, A.J. Hebert, Vera Deville Judycki, Dawn Gregory Koetting, Randall LaBry, Miguel Lasala, Onézieme Mouton, Stephanie Patton, Mary Perrin, Paul Schexnayder, Laura Drewett Sellers, Patrick Soper, Steven Schneider and Bill Risbourg.
The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday and continues through M ay 19.

Jazz and Jambalaya fundraiser Saturday
LAFAYETTE — St. Barnabas Episcopal Church holds its “Jazz and Jambalaya” fundraiser Saturday to benefit its youth programs.
Jambalaya dinners will be served from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the church’s Ramsay Hall, 400 Camellia Blvd. Take-out is available.
A jazz quintet performance will follow at 7:30 p.m. in The Nave at St. Barnabas.
The dinners include chicken and sausage jambalaya, a salad and drink for $5 per person. Tickets for dinner and the jazz performance are available for $15 each or two for $25.
Jazz performance tickets may be purchased separately for $10.
