Former Lafayette Mayor-President Joey Durel is joining IBERIABANK as business development officer for the Lafayette area, the banking corporation announced Monday.

Durel left office in January after serving three terms leading city-parish government. Before taking office, he owned Durel’s Pet Shops in Lafayette and several Arby’s franchises, among other business interests.

“We are thrilled to have Joey join our team and are confident that his background in owning and managing his own business along with his extensive experience in running our city will be an asset to our company,” IBERIABANK Acadiana Market President Jerry Vascocu said in a written announcement. “His unique experience will also add to the diversity of our team, enhance our client relationships and help leverage our investments in Acadiana.”
