LAFAYETTE — Lafayette Police are investigating the Wednesday afternoon shooting injury of a man in the 1000 block of South Magnolia Street.

The victim told officers he was sitting in his car when a 6-foot tall black man wearing a muscle shirt approached his vehicle with a handgun, demanded his money and then shot him in the leg, police said.

The assailant then got into the back seat of the victim’s vehicle and forced the victim to drive him to the 800 block of Surrey Street, where he left the vehicle and walked away, police said. The victim drove back to Magnolia Street, where he contacted police. He was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Man wanted in shooting injury

LAFAYETTE — Lafayette Police issued an arrest warrant for Karlon Woods Jr., 18, who is accused of shooting a man in the leg before noon Wednesday on the 200 block of East Clinton Street.

Woods, of Lafayette, is wanted for aggravated battery with a firearm in the shooting of a 34-year-old man during an argument over a stolen battery, Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release. Police did not identify the victim, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Anyone with information on the incident or Woods’ whereabouts is asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Man robbed at bus stop

LAFAYETTE — Lafayette Police are investigating the armed robbery of a man at a bus stop at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of East Simcoe Street.

The victim was approached by someone police described as a black male who was wearing warm-ups and a light-colored jacket who pulled out a handgun and took the victim’s wallet and cell phone before running away. The victim was not injured.

Police ask that anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Man booked on OWI after crashing into a tree

SCOTT — A 22-year-old Scott man was booked on counts of second-offense operating while intoxicated, careless operation and resisting an officer after running the stop sign at Dulles Drive and Le Violon Road, then going through a fence and crashing into a tree about 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, Scott police said.

Sean Tyler Littleton had a blood-alcohol level of 0.229 percent, nearly three times the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to a news release from Scott Police Chief Chad Leger.

Littleton was not seriously injured in the crash.
