One Acadiana has selected IberiaBank executive Jerry Vascocu as its 2016 chairman of the board of directors for the nine-parish regional economic development organization.
Vascocu is IberiaBank president for the Acadiana region, and has served on One Acadiana’s board for the past four years, including when the organization was the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. A member for six years, Vascocu has led One Acadiana’s Finance Committee and has served on the business development, talent development and urban development committees.
“In 2016, we will work diligently to protect our economy’s base, while identifying the types of companies whose location decision factors are compatible with the economic development assets the Acadiana region offers,” Vascocu said in a prepared statement.
“This includes bolstering business recruitment activities, pursuing opportunities to market and sell our region to businesses and talent at the national level, and getting smart about who we leverage a number of Acadiana’s assets like our dynamic work force, regional airport network and competitive sites inventory,” he said.
One Acadiana President and CEO Jason El Koubi said board members chose wisely when they picked Vascocu.
“Jerry spends every day focused on improving our regional economy,” El Koubi said.
Vascocu originally is from Ruston and earned a degree in economics from Vanderbilt University. He and his wife Julie have two children and live in Lafayette.
