Lafayette Consolidated Government on Thursday will introduce its proposed city-parish budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year during a special council meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The hearing is the first in a series of special Lafayette City-Parish Council meetings that will continue on a number of Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August.

The council will consider budgets for various city-parish departments at 1 p.m. Aug. 6, 11, 13 and 20.

A general summary of the proposed budgets will be available for public inspection on Aug. 12, with a public hearing for citizen input scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25.

After a budget wrap-up meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 27, the budget’s final adoption is targeted for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 3.

The new fiscal year begins in November.
