VILLE PLATTE - A manhunt is under way in Evangeline Parish for a jail escapee suspected of robbing a bank in Vidrine on Tuesday morning, according to a news release from State Police.

State Police, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office are searching for Brian Keith Soileau, 42, who escaped from the Pine Prairie Correction Center on Oct. 13, according to the news release.

State Police said they believe Soileau robbed the Guaranty Bank in Vidrine about 9:18 a.m. Tuesday.

Soileau was serving time in Pine Prairie on an aggravated burglary charge, according to State Police.

Police said in the news release that Soileau is believed to be driving a tan Chevrolet or GMC pickup with a flat tan cover over the bed of the truck.

He was last seen traveling west on LA 10 from LA 13, according to the news release.

Soileau is believed to be armed and dangerous.
