Lafayette General Health administrator Katie Hebert will join University Hospital and Clinics later this month as its new chief operating officer.

Hebert has served for the past five years as CEO of another Lafayette General affiliate, St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. She began her employment with Lafayette General Health in 2007 as administrator at the Lafayette General Surgical Hospital.

University Hospital and Clinics CEO Jared Stark described Hebert as a “friendly and compassionate administrator” with a record of success. As CEO at St. Martin Hospital, Hebert oversaw a more than $3 million expansion and renovation at the Breaux Bridge hospital and the facility received several honors.

Hebert moves into her new position effective March 23 and replaces Glenn Craig, who resigned in November.

In her new role, Hebert will help organize staff during an administrative restructuring at the public hospital. Lafayette General Health took over management of the public facility in June 2013.

Hebert also serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Acadiana and the Rural Hospital Coalition of Louisiana. In September, she was appointed to the board of the Louisiana Emergency Response Network.

“I am very proud of my tenure at SMH, but, I am eager to take new responsibilities and challenges in my position to make UHC as successful as it can be,” Hebert said in a news release.
