“Fabulous Flatware: Non-Traditional Tools of the Table,” an exhibit of more than 800 flatware designs, is on view through Dec. 17 at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum.
Curator of the exihibt is the museum’s own Lee Gray.
The museum also will host the Hilliard Music Festival on from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The free concert serves as a welcome back to University of Louisiana at Lafayette students, and features music, food, art and entertainment.

Taking grant applications
The Junior League of Lafayette is accepting grant applications for the 2011-2012 Community Resource Fund cycle.
The Junior League will award $40,000 in grants. Applications may be found at juniorleagueoflafayette.com.

Youth waterfowl hunts
The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is accepting applications for the 2011 youth waterfowl lottery hunts on White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area in Vermilion Parish.
There is no charge for the hunts, scheduled for Nov. 5-6. Participants will be chosen in a lottery drawing.
Applications must be submitted before the close of business Sept. 15.
One applicant will be selected based on the agency’s seven field office geographic coverage areas, plus one from the state at large.
Applicants must be 15 years of age or younger. Selected hunters must be accompanied in the blind by a parent or guardian, though the youth will be the only one permitted to possess a firearm.

The Komen Connection, part of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Komen office, 104 Westmark Blvd.
The informal meeting will discuss ways to volunteer.
The organization needs people to do light administrative work, run occasional errands, help plan events, sit on a committee, or even chair a committee.
Reggae & Cultural Festival
The 22nd annual Lafayette Reggae and Cultural Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday at Pelican Park in Carencro. Frankie Paul and Kenyatta Hill, of Culture, will headline the festival.
