The 10th annual Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival is set for April 19 through April 21 in downtown Franklin.

The festival, started as an outreach project to educate the public about the threatened Louisiana black bear, will feature food, music and crafts.

A fireworks show is scheduled on the bayou behind the Blevin’s Building at 8 p.m. April 20.

The Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show will be held in conjunction with the festival.

The Lafayette City-Parish Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Thomas Park.

Music co-op fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op in Lafayette is scheduled for April 17 at the Feed and Seed on Grant Street in downtown Lafayette.

The co-op offers a wide range of services for area musicians.

The benefit is sponsored by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Music Business Department.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with music from several bands and disc jockeys scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight.

General admission is $5. ULL students get in for $3 with a valid student ID.

Foundation crawfish boil

The Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation will hold its annual crawfish boil from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 18 at Couret Farms off Pont des Mouton Road.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for children.

Mardi Gras exhibit

An exhibit on Cajun and Creole Mardi Gras traditions will be on display from Thursday through April 19 at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Parks and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in downtown Eunice.

The free exhibit is based on the research of anthropologists Rocky Sexton and Larry Miller and looks at local Mardi Gras traditions as well as traditions in Missouri and Canada.

St. Jude fundraiser

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Posse will host a trail ride on April 27 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The ride is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. near 3375 Faubourg Road in Washington.

Bach Lunch

Downtown Lafayette’s Bach Lunch music series will continue at noon Friday in Parc Sans Souci with Horace Trahan and the Ossun Express.
