Original story

State Police late Tuesday were looking for a 12-year-old Mamou boy taken from school Tuesday afternoon by his mother, who doesn’t have custody of the child.

Jalon Bradley, 12, was picked up from Mamou High School around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday by his mother, Elaine Freeman, 34, said Sgt. James Anderson, a Louisiana State Police spokesman.

Freeman is believed to be driving a white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon, and may be headed to Jackson, Mississippi, Anderson said. He said the child is believed to be in imminent danger.

Bradley is about 5 feet tall and was last seen wearing a navy blue school uniform shirt with khaki shorts and Nike shoes, Anderson said.

Anderson asked anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jalon Bradley or Elaine Freeman to contact the Mamou Police Department at (337) 468-5221.
