A 39-year-old Lafayette man pleaded guilty this week to a charge of illegal possession of stolen firearms, a crime that calls for up to 10 years in federal prison, officials said.
At his plea hearing Thursday, Rico D. King admitted to having three stolen shotguns and five rifles, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said.
The guns were recovered during a September 2014 search by police who were investigating a string of burglaries in Lafayette, Finley said in a release.
King also faces three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. District Judge Richard Haik did not set a sentencing date.
