Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center will take over operations of Louisiana Oncology Associates locations and infusion centers in the region effective Aug. 1.

The two groups recently finalized a strategic partnership that sees Lourdes operating the Louisiana Oncology Associates locations in Lafayette, New Iberia, Crowley and Opelousas with physician support. Within the next eight to 12 months, the partnership could include additional services at the locations, as well as new centers.

“Our physician leadership is focused on expanding and continually enhancing services that can be offered in our community with the combined strength of our medical expertise and the operational experience and resources provided by Our Lady of Lourdes,” said Dr. Chancellor Donald, an oncologist and hematologist with Louisiana Oncology Associates.

Dr. Gene Brierre, Dr. Karen Roden, Dr. James Cole, Dr. David Rinaldi and Donald will lead clinical development and patient care in the partnership with Lourdes until the retirement of Cole and Rinaldi later this year. Dr. Charles Wendling Jr. and Dr. Techksell McKnight Washington will join the practice this summer and provide additional focus to the New Iberia and Opelousas sites.

“Our Lady of Lourdes has spent over 30 years bringing advanced cancer care close to home in the Hub City,” William “Bud” Barrow, Lourdes president and CEO, said in a news release. “In that tradition, we sought to partner more closely with proven physician specialists in the field of oncology to expand cancer treatment options even closer to home for the patients we serve in Acadiana and beyond.”
