LAFAYETTE — City-Parish Chief Development Officer Kevin Blanchard has been tapped as the new director of the Department of Public Works, filling a position that has been vacant since former Director Tom Carroll retired in May, City-Parish President Joey Durel announced Monday.
Blanchard already had been helping manage the DPW.
Carlee Alm-LaBar, who has worked as Durel’s assistant for the past four years, will become the new chief development officer, Durel said.
The chief development officer oversees long-range planning and serves as a liaison between city-parish government and private developers.
Durel is entering the last year of his third and final term in office.
“There are many people who have helped bring this government to where it is today, and I am grateful to all those who have served this government and our community over the last eleven years. Kevin and Carlee are part of the next generation of leaders who will help take Lafayette into the future,” Durel said in a statement.
