Want to keep fit for the summer?

The Lafayette Department of Parks and Recreation is offering an array of summer fitness programs at the Comeaux Recreation Center near Comeaux High School at 410 W. Blue Bird Drive.

On Wednesdays at 6 p.m. instructors will push adult attendees at the Fitness Athletic Boot Camp. The cost is $10, cash only.

On Mondays and Thursdays from 5:45 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. aerobics classes are being offered to adults. The first class is free, after that there will be a charge. For the admission fee and other questions, call (337) 278-0641 or (337) 291-8875.

On Fridays from 4:15 p.m. until 6 p.m. children 12 and younger can take ballet and modern dance classes. For more information, call (337) 267-9004 or go to facebook.com/gettothepointeballet.

Scam prevention workshop

The Lafayette Schools Credit Union will conduct two workshops Thursday on how not to be cheated by con artists pushing fraudulent schemes.

The first will be at 10 a.m. at the Credit Union’s office at 515 Guilbeau Road, and the second session for a new group of attendees starts at 1 p.m.

Admission is free and open to everyone.

Mystery Theatre dinner

Everyone is invited to the Mystery Theatre Dinner fundraiser, two interactive shows and dinners on Friday and Saturday night with proceeds going to the 2016 summer program benefitting youth in north Lafayette.

Tickets are $30 apiece and include the show, hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

The shows start at 7 p.m. at the Harambee Hall at 211 E. Willow St. in Lafayette.

Book sale in New Iberia

The Iberia Parish Main Library is holding a book sale Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. at 445 E. Main St. in New Iberia.

Choose from an array of children’s and adult’s paperback books. The library will not offer hardback books this time around.

The next Iberia Parish book sale will be in the fall.

Square dance in Lafayette

First United Methodist Church in Lafayette will hold a contra and square dance Saturday for seasoned dancers and beginners.

The dance runs from 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.

There is a $5 cover charge. The band is Laughin Lizards. No partner is necessary to join in.
