LAFAYETTE — The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce’s political action committee, Empower PAC, announced its endorsement Thursday of Lafayette Parish School Board District 9 candidate Jeremy Hidalgo.
Hidalgo and Brian West are competing for the District 9 seat on Nov. 4 to replace outgoing board member Rae Trahan, who is not seeking re-election.
“Jeremy has an outstanding track record of leadership in multiple civic and business organizations. Whether it’s Leadership Lafayette, or the Youngsville Chamber of Commerce, he consistently demonstrates passion and ability,” Empower PAC Chairman Frank Neuner said in announcement of the endorsement.
“We have zero doubt that if Jeremy is elected, the quality of our schools will be better in five years. The fact that he has attended every regular School Board meeting in the past two-and-a-half years, with two exceptions, speaks volumes about his dedication to serving the students and teachers of our community.”
Hidalgo, a Republican, owns Southern Sports Nets and is a financial services representative for MetLife.
District 9 takes in the southeastern corner of the parish and includes the city of Youngsville.
