Houston-based Sysco Corp. has acquired Doerle Food Services in Broussard, which has $250 million in annual food service distribution sales in parts of six states.
Doerle Energy & Marine is not part of the transaction. That division serves energy and marine industry customers in Louisiana, east and southeast Texas, south Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico along points from Corpus Christi, Texas, to Mobile, Alabama, according to Doerle's website.
The price Sysco is paying for the food service distribution side of the business was not disclosed. Its customer base includes restaurants, fast-food multi-unit chains, health care institutions, casinos, schools and government contracts — across all of Louisiana, much of east Texas and parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama.
Sysco said it expects to retain the executive management team of Doerle's food service distribution business.
Doerle Food Services was founded in 1950 by Paul Doerle Sr. as a small, local produce distributor. Since then, the family-owned business has grown into a multimillion-dollar company.

Sysco is the global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products to restaurants, health care and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home. Its products also include equipment and supplies for the food service and hospitality industries. The company generated sales of more than $55 billion in fiscal 2017.
Sysco employs more than 65,000 people, operates about 300 distribution facilities worldwide and serves more than 500,000 customer locations.
