An armed robber who demanded money from a teller at an Opelousas payday loan business on Wednesday fled with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

A young black man wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the back of it entered the business while brandishing a handgun, Opelousas Police Department spokesman Corey Leger said. He left the scene in a small, four-door and tan-colored car.

The robbery happened at Opelousas Loan at 5587 Interstate 49 South Service Road, Leger said.
