Police on Monday arrested a 20-year-old Lafayette man accused of shooting and injuring a Lafayette store clerk last week.

Cannon Williams, 201 Oxbow Drive, was booked on a count of attempted first-degree murder and remained in the Lafayette Parish jail on Monday evening in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Police earlier in the day released surveillance images of the shooter, who police said entered the Stop & Buy store in the 900 block of Carmel Drive around 8:35 p.m. on Thursday and demanded cash before shooting the clerk and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

The clerk remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition, police said.
