A Lafayette man surrendered to police on Tuesday in the weekend shooting of a 17-year-old.

Desmond Boutte, 22, was booked into the Lafayette Parish jail on a count of attempted first-degree murder in the Saturday afternoon shooting in the 400 block of Joan Street, said Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police Department spokesman.

Mouton said Boutte surrendered at the Lafayette Police Department.

The victim, who was shot multiple times in the incident, remains in an area hospital in stable condition, Mouton said.

Boutte had bailed out of jail by Tuesday afternoon on $250,000 bond, according to booking records.
