The 33-year-old man injured in the Saturday night shooting on East Simcoe Street has now been listed in stable condition, Lafayette Police spokeswoman Cpl. Bridgette P. Dugas said in a news release.

Police are attempting to locate the shooter, who is described as a slim black male in his 20s, approximately 6-feet tall, with a short afro hair style. He was last seen fleeing the scene in a white, four-door, older model Buick, Dugas said.

A man was critically injured in a shooting Saturday night on East Simcoe Street, Lafayette Police reported Sunday evening.

The shooting was reported at 6:44 p.m. Saturday at a business in the 1100 block of East Simcoe Street, said Lafayette Police spokeswoman Cpl. Bridgette P. Dugas.

The man, age 33, was shot several times and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, Dugas said. Police have not released his identity.

KATC-TV reported that police said the shooting occurred during an altercation with another man.

The investigation remains ongoing, Dugas said. Anyone with information about this incident or who knows the identity of the shooter is urged to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
