Authorities on Thursday apprehended an Abbeville teenager who escaped from police during an October arrest on drugs and weapons counts.
X’zavier Dyson, 17, fled from police when they closed in on him Thursday in an area he was known to frequent but was soon arrested without incident, according to the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Dyson, on Oct. 20, escaped from an officer transporting him to jail on counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm with drugs present, illegal carrying of weapons and possession of a firearm at an alcoholic beverage outlet. He now faces additional counts of simple escape and misdemeanor theft.
The circumstances of the theft charge were unclear, and a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office was unavailable on Friday afternoon.
Dyson remained in the Vermilion Parish jail on Friday afternoon. A $250 bond had been set for the theft charge but none of the felony charges.
