Authorities captured two escaped inmates from St. Martin Parish at a Houston hotel Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Robert Lee Chatman III, 25, of St. Martinville, and Andre Gilbert, 31, of Homer, both were reported missing from the Breaux Bridge substation during a routine headcount early Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

Both were serving sentences on simple burglary charges. Each will now face an added count of simple escape, the release said.

Authorities also arrested Chatman’s girlfriend, Amanda Champagne, 20, on one count of aiding and assisting in an escape, the release said.

All three were arrested shortly after 3:30 p.m. with the direct assistance of the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force from Lafayette and Houston, the release said.

Extradition proceedings will be initiated, the release said.
