CROWLEY — Two people have been arrested and two new suspects were announced Thursday in the April 25 shooting at the Kathy apartment complex.
Gevin Louis Varise, 29, of Plaquemine, was arrested Thursday by Baton Rouge Police and awaits extradition to Acadia Parish on counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted armed robbery, attempted aggravated burglary and felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities also issued warrants for Dillan Green, 19, whose address is unknown, and 20-year-old Kendall Devon Thomas of the 500 block of Aster Drive in Lafayette.
A fourth person, 20-year-old Troynika Yokum of Crowley, was booked April 30 on counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated burglary, and two counts of principal to armed robbery.
The 28-year-old victim, his wife and their young child were returning home shortly after midnight that Saturday when two people in dark clothing and ski masks entered the apartment and shot the man, wounding his face, arm and back, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Maxine Trahan said. The victim was treated and released from an area hospital.
Green is wanted on counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted armed robbery, aggravated burglary and felon in possession of a firearm, and Thomas is wanted as principal to the shooting.
