Three people found lying in wait in a St. Martin Parish cane field early Saturday morning were arrested, accused of planning an armed robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia and other offenses.

A St. Martin’s Parish sheriff’s deputy reported he was patrolling the Doyle Melancon Road area around 1 a.m. Saturday when he saw a suspicious vehicle parked in a cane field. The arrest report says the deputy discovered a man and woman appearing to hide in the field and another man who tried to run away.

Deputies found a stolen firearm and later learned the three people, Bridget Patin, Jude Derise and Jake Savoy were conspiring to rob an individual, the report says.

Patin was booked on a count of criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Derise was booked on criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer. Savoy was also booked on criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, simple escape, resisting an officer and resisting an officer with force or violence.

All three people were booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. No bond has been set.
