A Scott police officer arrested Wednesday is accused of using his department-issued fuel card to make more than $3,500 worth of unauthorized gasoline purchases over a two-year period, including at least one purchase for his wife.

Larry Williams, 43, was booked on one count each of malfeasance and unauthorized use of an access card after Scott Police Department administrators in early June took notice of the purchases and later caught him in the act, according to the arrest affidavit.

While driving his marked police unit, Williams on June 9 was seen filling up a vehicle in which his wife was sitting, the affidavit states. That purchase marked the final of about 90 unauthorized fuel expenses that began in July 2013, according to the arrest warrant.

After questioning and a subsequent arrest by a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputy, Williams had bonded out of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center by Thursday afternoon on a $10,000 bail.
